Hey, Wait A Minute, What's Going On?

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Box in the Woods Theater Guild will not be able to perform Annie this summer as planned.  We are in the process of securing the production rights to be able to perform Annie in the near future.

In the meantime, we have found a fun and clever musical to do this summer.  It is called Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.  It's a humorous take on the familiar Alice characters.  From the show's website:

Lewis Carroll, the author of "Alice in Wonderland," has been contracted by a theatrical producer, Sir Henry Irving, to adapt his book into a stage play. Carroll, multi-talented but totally disorganized, has put off the writing of the play until the day before it is due. To help him create it, he gets Alice Liddell and her friends and family to improvise all the delightful characters. Even his staid housekeeper, a local handyman and two of Carroll's university students end up playing the roles of the Queen of Hearts, the Caterpillar, and the March Hare and Dormouse. Humor and chaos reign as all these "actors," including Carroll himself taking on several roles, try to re-enact the important scenes from his book. Many lovely songs highlight the action such as "One Place On" when the characters change chairs at the tea party, and "The Royal March," in which the Queen and the young actors playing her children, soldiers and courtiers, enter the theatre.

Auditions will be on May 3 & 4 at the Mielke Theater, from 6 - 8:30 pm.  Callbacks, if necessary, will be on May 5.  Please prepare an upbeat song or song segment (no more than 2 minutes long, please) to sing at your audition.  We will have script segments for you to read from as well.

This is a show with many roles that promises to be a delight for everyone involved.  Please consider auditioning for a part in Alice.  We'd love to have you on our team!

Directions to Mielke Theater

Here is a link to the Shawano Arts Council's webpage which has detailed directions to the Mielke Theater.  As you turn into the driveway, there is a big parking lot.  When people go to shows, they park there and walk through the woods to the theater.  For auditions, you can drive past the parking lot and park nearer to the theater.  Please enter at the box office doors on the northeast side of the building.  (I will try to remember to have signs posted to guide you.)
